Meet our executive board members! Each of these women are instrumental in the operations of VACAC. They are dedicated to providing exceptional care to communities by sharing their knowledge, skills, and unique capabilities.

DR. YSABEL WRIGHT-CHARLES
Chief Executive Officer
Meet Dr. Ysabel Wright-Charles. She is a Cincinnati native, passionate about making a difference in communities both near and far. As founder and CEO, she created this organization with just that in mind.
Dr. Wright-Charles attended Loyola University, New Orleans, where received a Bachelor's of Science degree with a Biology major and Chemistry minor. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and MSc degree by research from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) in 2017 and 2019, respectively. She completed veterinary clinicals at Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Wright's professional experiences include, but are not limited to, small/mixed animal medicine & surgery, small & exotic animal emergency medicine, shelter veterinary medicine, forensic veterinary medicine, animal research, and veterinary consultations. Her career interests include Public/One-Health awareness and professional diversity and acceptance. She is passionate about empowerment through education. She is eager to provide mentorship and support to underrepresented groups, and consider herself an advocate for the "underdogs" of both animal and human communities.
Through Dr. Wright's professional and personal experiences, she has been fortunate enough to form various relationships with culturally unique individuals. Through these encounters, she proudly embraces her deepened appreciation for all forms of life and greater understanding of the One Health Principles. One Health is a multisectoral and transdisciplinary concept illustrating an integrated, unifying approach in that the balance and optimum health of people, animals and the ecosystem are connected interdependent of one another. Dr. Wright values social and humanitarian efforts and strongly believes it is our duty to contribute positively to strengthening this triad of relationships through collaborative socio-anthropological understandings, research advancements, community engagement, and education.

In addition to her commitment to VACAC, Dr. Wright-Charles provides online recommendations and education to animal owners & lovers all over the world with "Just Answer", as well as Telehealth visits and consultations through her online virtual practice platform with "Vetster".
​
Her personal interests include traveling with her husband and daughter, outdoor activities with the family and their dog Sneezy, game nights with family and friends, trying new foods, and dancing!

DR. SHATEENAH BARNES
Vice Executive
Meet Dr. Barnes, lead veterinarian from Boston, Massachusetts, passionate about human and animal health advancements in research, and providing veterinary services to the community, clearly demonstrated throughout her career. As member of the executive committee, it is her extreme pleasure to join her friend and colleague, Dr. Ysabel Wright, as she undertakes this admirable endeavor of advancing access to veterinary medicine for those in need. ​
​
Dr. Barnes, attended Becker College studying Veterinary Science with a minor in animal care. She also attended Boston University, where she studied Biomedical Laboratory and Clinical Science. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She completed veterinary clinicals at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Barnes' professional experiences include, but are not limited to small/mixed/large animal medicine & surgery as a veterinary missionary, laboratory animal research medicine and compliance, and home pet euthanasia services. Her career interests include Public/One-Health awareness, professional diversity and comparative medicine advancements.
​
Dr. Barnes cares deeply for mentoring minority populations, supporting organizations like the National Association for Black Veterinarians, as well as advocacy and protection for humans used to advance health and medicine technologies for humans. Travel to impoverished countries has deepened her appreciation for the privileges we have in the U.S.A., and paying it forward. Dr. Barnes also cares deeply for the changes in our climate and world and the preservation and adaptation of agricultural life and well-being.

Dr. Barnes' personal interests include traveling, yoga, church, bible study, outdoor exploration, dancing, music, and managing/promoting physical and mental health for herself and those around her.
JAZMIN RICHARDSON, RVT
Chief Operations Executive
Consulting
Meet Jazmin, our Registered Veterinary Technician! She is also a Cincinnati native. Jazmin attended Brown Mackie College for her veterinary technician education.
​
​​We are honored to have Jazmin as a part of our team! She has been a technician for more than 8 years, and working with animals for even longer. Her leadership experiences include practice management, lead veterinary technician, and training veterinary technician. Her favorite thing about Vet Med is patient care, preventative medicine, and surgery.
​
In addition to working as a veterinary technician, she is a reputable pet sitter and entrepreneur for a private pet-sitting business, and on the Rover platform. Additionally, she also provides consultations through her online virtual practice platform with "Vetster". She enjoys giving pets extra TLC by offering beauty baths and nail trims to her services.
​
During Jazmin's free time, she loves spending time with her husband, three kids, and Big Mac (her Rottie).


THE
TEAM
The VACAC team consists of collaborative, knowledgeable, and compassionate indivuals. We are comprised of veterinarians, veterinary assistants & technicians, and just plain animal lovers.
We are completely volunteer based at this time. Each volunteer has the desire to make a difference in the community for animals and humans alike. The VACAC team has the abililty to connect with community members by offering a service that also highlights their unique talents and abilities.
